The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) was established in 1850 and is the largest Sheriff's department in the United States. Initially, the department was created to provide law enforcement services to Los Angeles County, covering a jurisdiction of over 4,000 square miles.

Over the years, the LASD has expanded its responsibilities to include courthouse security, housing and transporting inmates within the county jail system, and providing municipal police services to various cities and unincorporated communities within the county. The department has grown to employ around 18,000 personnel, including over 200 sworn deputies.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has continuously fought against crime, making sure the streets and citizens of Los Angeles are safe and sound.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department also contains 3 different divisions, and two sub-divisions.
